In western Germany centrally located in Europe with easy access to France, Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, The Netherlands, Austria, and Poland; all within 6 hours! (Paris is only 3 hours away!). Mannheim is an old, European university town. The main university building (where you will take classes) is a Baroque palace! Mannheim is a bit larger than Salem, but very much the same in terms of scale and scope. Lots to do and yet manageable in size. What if I don't speak German? You can sign up for courses taught in English in a variety of majors. You can also take a German language course to improve your language skills. Can I take courses that count at SSU? Absolutely! Most majors and minors will fit. This partnership is with Mannheim's School of Humanities. Courses are offered in most of the same areas as SSU. You can complete a major or minor in American Studies while at Mannheim. Preference for this program is given to those who are majoring or minoring in American Studies.
