Application Instructions

It is our intention to make the process to study abroad as user-friendly and simple as possible. However, it is important that each student follow the process carefully and complete all necessary steps.

1. Explore your options
  • Research your study abroad options online
  • To search by location: use the world map screen, click on the region you want, and then click on the country
  • To search by major/term/provider: click on "Advanced Search," enter the search parameters.

2. Meet with the Study Abroad Coordinator

  • You may already know where you want to study abroad. You may need help selecting a program. In any case, stop by our office, located in SB 114.

3. Create an Account

  • To begin exploring the study abroad opportunities available to you, you must first create an account on this website. Please note that the username and password are unique to this website, and are not the same as your Salem State username and password.
3. Complete the Salem State study abroad application online
  • You will have to meet with a financial aid representative!
  • Complete a series of forms that you can upload to your account
  • Upload a copy of your passport
4. Follow the application instructions for your specific program (in addition to the Salem State application)
  • Most of you will have to complete an application for the program provider/university in addition to the Salem State study abroad application. Please note that applying through this website does not complete your study abroad application! Each student is responsible for applying to their individual program!

***Please make sure that you have a valid passport with an expiration date that is 6 months past the date that your program ends. It can take up to 4 weeks to receive your passport after applying, so please plan accordingly.
